Guatemala City North Mission

...let us labor diligently: for if we should cease to labor, we should be brought under condemnation for we have a labor to perform whilst in this tabernacle of clay, that we may conquer the enemy of all righteousness, and rest our souls in the kingdom of God. Moroni 9:6

Meeting with Missionary's Parents

June 15, 2008

Today we had the opportunity to speak in the Sacrament Meeting of the Millrace Branch of the Taylorsville Stake. The Spirit was very strong and we felt a very thin veil between us and those who are on the on other side of the veil who have a very keen interest in this work which is our opportunity to be a part of.

Yesterday we had a reception which our children did for us and we were blessed to meet with many special friends but, for us the highlight was having so many of the parents of our missionaries come to meet us. We also met with three of our future missionaries who have received their call to our mission. This has been a weekend which will live with us for the rest of our lives.

Enclosed are the pictures which we took took with these very special people. On Tuesday we will be set apart by President Boyd K. Packer and on the 21st we will report to the MTC for training with the First Presidency, Quorum of the Twelve and the Seventy and on the 26th we fly to Guatemala.

Our son, Elder Garvin is serving in your mission right now. We were thrilled when our married daughter somehow found your blog. When you get an email address, I would love to send you an incredible experience Elder Garvin had in the jungles of the Polochic. My email address is micheleromneygarvin@gmail.com

It was amazing to get to meet you both before our son, Christopher Walker, gets to! He's very anxious to meet you! We were touched by your sincerity and humility and know that the missionaries and people of the Guatemala-Guatemala City North Mission are in for a real treat!!
